  2. many as the greatest of all time. He played
  3. in ten World Series and hit 714 home runs, a
  4. record that stood from 1935 to 1974 and led
  5. to a nickname as the `Sultan of Swat'. Ruth
  6. started playing 1914 as a pitcher-outfielder
  7. for the Boston Braves before moving to the
  8. Boston Red Sox later that year. He joined the
  9. New York Yankees 1920 and became one of the
  10. best hitters in the game. He hit 60 home runs
  11. in the 1927 season (a record beaten 1961 by
  12. Roger Maris). He is still the holder of the
  13. record for most bases in a season: 457 in
  14. 1921. Yankee Stadium is known as `the house
  15. that Ruth built' because of the money he
